The Aichi Nagoya International Animation Film Festival (ANIAFF), first launched in December 2025 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, has announced the dates for its second edition, to be held from Friday, November 13 to Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
In addition, submissions are now open for the International Feature Film Competition.
ANIAFF was established with the aim of becoming a major global film festival that integrates the industrial and cultural strengths of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture—one of Japan’s three major metropolitan areas—and serves as a creative platform where creators from around the world gather, exchange ideas, and inspire one another.
The festival aspires to be a leading international animation film festival that offers a comprehensive view of global animation—past, present, and future—while creating an engaging space not only for animation enthusiasts but for a wider audience, and contributing to the development and promotion of animation culture and industry.
During its second edition, ANIAFF will once again bring together outstanding and cutting-edge animated works from around the world, transcending genres and styles. Screenings will take place primarily at venues in Nagoya, including Midland Square Cinema and Midland Square Cinema 2.
The program will feature a wide range of sections such as the International Feature Film Competition, Director Focus, Special Screenings, All-Night Screenings, Invited Works, and Event Screenings. In addition, the festival will host the Aichi Nagoya Animation Conference 2026, along with talks, symposia, and other events featuring a diverse lineup of guests.
Furthermore, submissions for the International Feature Film Competition are now officially open.
At the inaugural edition, the top prize, the Kinshachi Award (Grand Prix), was awarded to Endless Cookie; the Ginshachi Award (Jury Prize) to 燃比娃 Ran Bi Wa; and the Akashachi Award (Audience Award) to 100 METERS (Hyakuemu.).
For the second edition, the award structure remains the same: the Kinshachi Award (Grand Prix) will include a prize of 1,000,000 yen and a trophy; the Ginshachi Award (Jury Prize), 500,000 yen and a trophy; and the Akashachi Award (Audience Award), 200,000 yen and a trophy.
