Kubo and the Two Strings

Original Title: Kubo and the Two Strings

United States of America
2016

Introduction

Kubo is a boy with a mysterious power: he can bring origami to life and control it at will using the sound of his shamisen. As a child, he was targeted by his grandfather, who possessed dark magical powers. In an attempt to protect him, Kubo’s father was killed. During that attack, Kubo lost one of his eyes and fled to a distant land, living with his mother—until even she was taken by agents of darkness.
Setting out on a journey to avenge his parents, Kubo is joined by a caring monkey and a carefree but skilled archer named Beetle. Along the way, he discovers that the relentless pursuit against him stems from a tragic crime committed by his beloved mother in the past.
What truly happened to his parents? What secrets does the shamisen hold? When Kubo finally confronts his grandfather, the Moon King, all is revealed.
