We are delighted to announce that the opening film of this year’s festival will be Your Letter, the latest animated feature directed by Kim Young-hwan, which was just released in South Korea on October 1!
Your Letter is a touching coming-of-age story brought to life through animation by director Kim Young-hwan. The film follows a young girl who, after transferring to a new school, stumbles upon a mysterious letter. Guided by the clues within, she searches through classrooms, flower beds, and rooftops, forming new friendships and growing along the way.
Comment from Director Kim Young-hwan – Your Letter
Hello, I’m Kim Young-hwan, director of Your Letter.
It is a great pleasure and honor for me that Your Letter has been invited as the opening film of the 1st Aichi-Nagoya International Animation Festival.
Having grown up watching Japanese animation, I feel it is deeply meaningful to be part of the opening of a new international animation festival taking place in Japan.
I’m very much looking forward to encountering the wonderful and diverse animated works gathered from around the world in Nagoya.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for inviting Your Letter as the opening film to mark the beginning of this inaugural festival.
